@methu124 Bill Evans did record this, I think it was live at the Village Vanguard. I have it somewhere anyway. It is a very different style than this -- much more laid back. It is marvelous, go find it!

O. P. is simply the greatest! Once I made up my mind to just enjoy him and not try to play like him, I found virtually a lifetime of study material in every performance. Watching him is almost as educational as listening: notice how his hands maintain a high bridge, broad palm coverage, and a perfect curvature throughout. In short he plays with his whole hands rather than just his fingers. BTW, this is a very lovely tune that I imagine Bill Evans would have devoured with its shoes on! |
