The name of the piece is "Salute to Bach" it's from a performance at the Berlin Philharmonic in 1985

Jazz genius could't dead before a century or aroud that, it means 97,98 or 99 is good. Peterson was one of the best on jazz piano solo or duo, trio, well how much was possible. Great. Thanks a lot. Edson N. Morais

In my opinion, while this does reflect Peterson's interest in Bach, the core of the piece is a minor blues. Third Stream is more than the inclusion of counterpoint or a jam off a Mozart theme, it's a way which composers and performers addressed their music. Peterson is such a mastermind, he looks for influence from Rachmaninov, Bach, and others, yet I doubt he would consider himself a Third Stream artist, unlike Gunther Schuller or (later) Anthony Braxton.

Ahh, okay. I've heard Jacques Loussier referred to being third stream and this is very reminiscent of his Bach interpretations. Is that also a mislabeling or is there some difference? Isn't third stream just a fusion of classical and jazz elements? Please enlighten me; Wikipedia appears to have little to say on this topic.
